In recent years, the discovery of the original 78-centimeter\/second masters caused quite a stir; the tape we’ve obtained for this release appears to be from the same lineage, and the sound quality is exceptionally clear. However, this master contained sections where the output fluctuated unnaturally during the Funeral Marches by Brahms and Wagner. During the mastering process, we carefully corrected these issues and took great care to ensure listeners would not need to adjust their amplifier volume while listening. This can be considered the definitive recording of these performances.
