In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Michael Praetorius' death this year (2021), the up-and-coming classical music ensemble \"La Protezione della Musica\" has recorded works from the \"Music of Zion\". The nine-volume collection includes more than 1,000 chorales and hymns arranged by Pretorius, of which this recording contains ten, centering on the well-known \"Our God is a Stronghold\". The ensemble was founded in 2015 by Jeroen Finke as La Protezione della Musica, an up-and-coming group that performs a repertoire of works from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The ensemble also released the world premiere recording of the Matthew Passion by Johann Kyriacus Keeling (1670-1727) on the ARCANTUS label (ARC-20020), which attracted considerable attention.
