The festival has featured many iconic artists who have made music history, and has produced some of the most memorable performances in history. The collection is called Montreux Sounds and is a vast and valuable collection. In 2013, Montreux Sounds was recognized by UNESCO, The Montreux Jazz Festival and BMG have teamed up to present \"THE MONTREUX YEARS,\" a series that will explore the Montreux Sounds' vast collection.To date, the series has released works by Etta James, Nina Simone, Muddy Waters, Marianne Faithfull, John McLaughlin, and Chick Corea, and will be released in September. The series will not only revive the legendary performances of these artists, but will also include a wealth of previously unreleased material from the festival's rich 55-year history, as well as a booklet with newly written liner notes and previously unpublished photographs. Mastering will be done by Tony Cousins at Metropolis Studios in London.
