The song combines synthesizers, violin, and slide guitar with a sound further refined by producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Fontaine's D.C.). The lyrics are based on the experiences of Jason Buckle (Relaxed Muscle), who co-wrote the song.Buckle once went to a show at The Stone Roses' infamous Spike Island, where the DJ yelled "Spike Island, come alive! and it was said that the DJ was getting on everyone's nerves all day long. This story stuck with Jarvis Cocker and inspired him to write a new song about Spike Island, even though he did not go to the show.

A message from Jarvis about "More": "This is the first time I've heard a song about Spike Island.

This is the first Pulp album since 2001's We Love Life. Yes, it's our first new album in 24 years.

How did that come about? When we started touring again in 2023, we were practicing a new song called "The Hymn of the North" in between soundchecks. We performed it at the end of the second show at Sheffield Arena. This opened a new door. From then on, through the first half of 2024, a series of songs were created that would be included on the album. Some of the songs revived ideas that had been warming up since the previous century. One song was composed by Richard Hawley. The other song was composed by Jason Buckle. The Eno family (Brian Eno and others) provided the backing chorus for some of the songs. Richard Jones did the string arrangements, which were performed by the Elysian Collective.

Recording took place in three weeks in Walthamstow, London, beginning November 18, 2024. It is the shortest album ever completed in the history of pulp. It may be said that this work was born as it was meant to be born.

These are the facts. I hope you enjoy this album. This work was created by four people from the North of England and completed with the help of five friends from around the UK.

No AI of any kind was used.

I dedicate this album to Steve McKee.

It's the best we could do."

Thanks for listening, Jarvis.

Tracklisting:

1.Spike Island2.Tina3.Grown Ups4.Slow Jam5.Farmers Market6.My Sex7.Got To Have Love8.Background Noise9.Partial Eclipse10.The Hymn of the North11.A Sunset
1.Spike Island
2.Tina
3.Grown Ups
4.Slow Jam
5.Farmers Market
6.My Sex
7.Got To Have Love
8.Background Noise
9.Partial Eclipse
10.The Hymn of the North
11.A Sunset
