The long-awaited reissue on CD and LP of The J. Ann C. Trio's album "At Tan Tara" (BURDLAND RECORDS/LP3300/LP), originally released in 1966 in the Ozarks, Missouri, USA on a self-released LP. Featuring Anne Derleen, a powerful female singer who sounds like a more powerful version of Wanda Jackson, the trio plays a garage, lounge, and folk-rock sound with a delicious blend of jazz, folk, rockabilly, and other flavors. This is an extremely rare independent LP that is well-known to record collectors and fetches a high price on the used market. Hank Williams' "Jambalaya" is a fitting title to open the album, with Ann's rockabilly-style vocals backed by a light western swing-style sound, and the occasional fist-pump singing is a nice touch. Hey Bo Diddley," with its lounge-like sound and interplay between Anne's lead and background vocals, is pleasant to the ear. The song "Your Cheatin' Heart" features Anne's deep and gentle vocals.The Girl from Ipanema" (Ipanema's Daughter) features Anne singing moody vocals over a relaxing acoustic soundtrack.
