Description:
This is a collection of choral works by composer Rafał Augustin (1951-), born in Wroclaw, Poland. He studied composition with Bukowski at the Higher School of Music here and with Gretzky at the Conservatory in Katowice. At the same time, he studied Polish literature at the University of Wroclaw, and his activities range from interpretation and composition to jazz. Many of his works make use of his keen sense of language, and the "Romantic Nocturne" at the beginning of this album is also impressive in its use of fine singing, reminiscent of the fluttering wings of angels. The magnificent "Mass" with its resonance between voice and organ is also a treat to hear, but above all, the "Vagor ergo sum," a collection of songs placed at the end of the album, is most original. Augustin's characteristics are strongly expressed. Recorded in 2013 under the direction of Piotr Karpeta. (C)RS
