In the 1970s, he and his brother, Colin Matthews, completed a practical version of Mahler's \"Symphony No. 10\" and began to play an active role in the orchestra. He then began to study with great enthusiasm, composing his first piece at the age of 25, and since then has written works in a wide range of genres, including film music. This collection of piano trios is a highly accomplished work that combines the profundity of Shostakovich with the lyrical side of Vaughan Williams.
