Just six months earlier, he had performed as a member of Art Blakey \u0026amp; the Jazz Messengers, creating the classic album *The Jazz Messengers at Café Bohemia*, and his peak-form playing is very much alive on this recording as well. Featuring J.R. Montrose (ts), Kenny Burrell (g), Bobby Timmons (p), Sam Jones (b), and Arthur Edghill (ds), this album fully captures the spirit of hard bop at the time and is still considered one of Dorham’s masterpieces.\n\nThe remastering was handled by Kevin Gray, the master craftsman behind the TonePoet series. He cut and remastered the album directly from the original master tapes, delivering the natural, warm sound that has been highly praised in previous reissues—an experience that feels just like listening to the analog tape itself. The booklet features a wealth of content, including previously unpublished photographs by Francis Wolff and an insightful essay by Sid Schwartz, making it a major highlight in its own right.\n\nThe Japanese edition is being released as a special hybrid SACD.
