Puccini learned of the competition before graduating from the Milan Conservatory and decided to enter, hoping for the prize money and publicity. Through the introduction of his teacher Ponchielli, Puccini teamed up with the librettist Fontana and composed \"Vigli the Fairy\" in a hurry, submitting it just in time for the deadline. However, with the support of Arrigo Boito, who took notice of the work, it was premiered at the Teatro dal Verme in Milan on May 31, 1884, with great success. It is said that Puccini answered as many as 18 curtain calls. Fontana's Gothic Romantic script, based on Alphonse Carre's novel \"Willis\" and incorporating the story of Heine's \"The Spirit of Nature\" and Adolphe Adan's ballet \"Giselle,\" also proved popular. After the premiere, Puccini revised the work into a two-act version.\n\nThis recording is a live concert performance made to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Puccini's death in 2024.The role of Anna will be sung by Anita Hartik, a Romanian soprano. She studied at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca and made her debut as Mimi in \"La bohème\" as a student. Here she sang lyrically with tenor Kang Wang and baritone Boris Pinhasovich. Conducting is Ivan Lepsic, who has been active with the Deutsche Oper Berlin and other German opera houses, and in 2019 will conduct a well-received production of \"La Traviata\" at the New National Theatre.\n\n\n\n(Naxos Japan)\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Br Klassik","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51247440953633,"sku":"4589538821104","price":133.0,"currency_code":"DKK","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/zeMI0006795342.jpg?v=1747673856","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-dk\/products\/4589538821104","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
