The legendary band he led in West Berlin during the Cold War in the early 1980s, \"Die Umbekanten,\" is now available on CD for the first time in the world. At the time, as a German agent for the UK's Factory Records, he was active as an intermediary between the UK and Germany, including inviting Joy Division to Germany, and he formed a band with fellow countryman Alistair Gray and threw himself into his own musical activities. Dee Umbekanten, which started out as \"The Unknown Englishmen,\" played an important role in the local scene and released two 12-inch EPs on Monogam Records, but in 1984 the band changed its name to Shark Vegas and called it quits. This CD reissues all of their official recordings, plus unreleased live recordings and demos, for a total of 19 tracks, all reissued in the latest digital masters with improved sound quality over the currently available recordings.
