The video also shows the splendor of Severance Hall, home of the Cleveland Orchestra, which has a reputation for being one of the most beautiful and acoustically excellent in the world. Mahler began composing the Tenth Symphony in 1910, after he had finished the Ninth Symphony, but it was not completed until Mahler's death in 1911. The video reveals Mahler's shock at the revelation of Alma's infidelity during the composition of the Tenth Symphony.In the song cycle \"The Wonderful Horn of the Child,\" the source of Mahler's music, Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožener and German baritone Christian Gerhaherl provide fine singing with precision and expression.
