Coppey was born in Strasbourg. After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, at the age of 18 he won the first prize at the J.S. Bach International Competition, which brought him to the attention of the world. His subsequent career has been spectacular, and he has performed as a soloist with conductors such as Inbal, Clivine, Gilbert, and Yutaka Sado. As a chamber musician, he has earned the trust of Piris, Belov, Dumay, Mullova, Payu, and others. He has also made numerous recordings as a member of the Isay String Quartet (1995-2000).As of 2015, he is teaching at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris and further expanding his activities as artistic director of the Zagreb Soloists Ensemble. In this new recording, he sings eloquently the masterpieces of Haydn and C.P.E Bach with his beloved Gofriller instrument along with his carefully crafted musical hand-pieces.
