He studied organ under Edouard Souberbiel and piano under Germaine Meunier at the Cesar Franck School of Music, and won the first prize at the St. Albans International Organ Competition (England) in 1965 and the Haarlem International Organ Competition for three consecutive years in 1966, 1967 and 1968.
