He played seven fantasias by seven different composers on seven different instruments. The seven fantasies by seven different composers are played on seven different instruments. Melnikov stunned audiences at the Toppan Hall in January 2021 with a concert of almost the same content, but here he demonstrates his divine work with even greater perfection. The instruments are not merely period-correct, but have been chosen with style and effect in mind. Finally, Schnittke's \"Improvisation and Fugue,\" which makes full use of the capabilities of a modern Steinway, is a brilliant work written for the Third International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1966, and demonstrates a spiritual ancestry back to Bach.
