This 14-CD box set is a limited edition. Limited edition.\n\n\n\nMichael Tilson Thomas burst onto the international scene in the early 1970s, releasing albums of Tchaikovsky, Debussy, and American music on Deutsche Grammophon. Although his contract was short-lived at the time, he performed Debussy's sonatas with leading members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, which also showcased his exceptional piano skills. He then became music director of the London Symphony Orchestra and again produced two Bernstein albums for Deutsche Grammophon. On the Town\" and \"Aria and Boat Songs\" featured Bernstein's close and longtime collaborators Frederica von Stade and Thomas Hampson. He has also recorded concertos with pianist Jean-Marc Luisada and cellist Mischa Maisky, whose insightful and sympathetic concertos are characteristic of their work. CD12 through CD14 are Tilson Thomas' recordings for the Argo label. It includes a jaunty album of Latin American dances (\"Tangaso\"), a collection of orchestral works by Morton Feldman that appeal to the senses, and an album dedicated to Tilson Thomas' former college teacher, composer Ingolf Dahl. The New World Symphony Orchestra, which he performs with, was founded by Tilson Thomas in 1987 with the goal of building the careers of young classical musicians, but soon established an international reputation.\n\nOriginal jacket.
