In 1995, the Human League left their longtime label, Virgin Records, to sign with Warner Music's East West Records. Their seventh album, "OCTOPUS," was released as the first album after the transfer. This was also their first album since they became a 3-piece band with vocalists Philip Oakey, Joanne Catherall, and Susan Ann Sulley due to the departure of one of the band members. Producers were Tears For Fears and Ian Stanley, with songwriting contributions from former band member Jo Callis and Neil Sutton, who was the keyboard player on sessions and tours at the time. A distinctive feature of the album's sound is that it was produced almost entirely with analog synthesizers. This was a big change considering their sound from the mid to late 80's was digital. In the 1990s, they built their own studio in their hometown of Sheffield, and this album, "OCTOPUS," marks the beginning of a new chapter in their history. Between 1991 and 1995, they produced about 30 demos, some of which were included on the album. CD2 of the "Special Edition" CD also includes some of the demo recordings from the album's creation, giving listeners a glimpse into how the songs on "OCTOPUS" evolved from a budding sound to a polished final form. Of note on CD2 is that it features songs from the 1993 YMO collaboration EP "YMO VS THE HUMAN LEAGUE". The Human League's remix of YMO's songs, "Behind The Mask" and "Kimi Ni Mune Kyun" could be called "YMO covers by the Human League", The release of "OCTOPUS" has brought the Human League back into the limelight, after a hiatus from the Top 10 of the UK charts since their 1986 album "CRASH.The first single from the album became their first Top 10 hit in the UK in nine years, reaching #6 on the UK Singles Chart. The second single "One Man In My Heart" also reached the Top 20. The album was also a big hit, reaching #6 in the UK, and became the band's sixth consecutive Top 10 album.

Tracklisting:

.Tell Me When
.These Are The Days
.One Man In My Heart
.Words
.Filling Up With Heaven
.Housefull Of Nothing
.John Cleese; Is He Funny?
.Never Again
.Cruel Young Lover
.Tell Me When (7" Edit)
.The Bus To Crookes
.Stay With Me Tonight (Single Version)
.Behind The Mask (YMO vs THL)
.Kimi Ni Mune Kyun (YMO vs THL)
