Jazz and film music have a close relationship in each period, but the most notable period is from the late 1950s to the 1960s. Jazz as improvised music resonated with the style/spirits of the Nouvelle Vague that took place in France. Its masterpiece "Elevator to the Death Row" is an unshakable masterpiece that transcends time. This film couples the original soundtrack recordings of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" (Dangerous Liaisons) and "Des Femmes Disparaissent" (The Killing), which were produced during this period. As in the case of "Elevator to the Gallows," which was shot while the audience was watching the film, the jazzmen's imagination, inspired by the images, completed the music. There is a wonderful sense of intuition only in the limited time available for the production. This album also includes seven additional pieces by Duke Jordan, the composer of "Dangerous Liaisons" (No Blues), who himself led the group in recording the other seven pieces.Two additional tracks, "No Problem" and "Miguel's Party," the best songs from "Dangerous Liaisons" and "Killed," were recorded by Barne Whelan, Bud Powell, and others.
