The orchestra brings together talented young musicians from Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, and other countries for the sake of peace between Israel and the Arab world. This video is a performance at the 2007 Salzburg Festival. Beethoven's \"Leonore\" No. 3 in a richly shaded and substantial performance. Schoenberg's \"Variations for Orchestra,\" a late romantic music with 12-tone technique that evokes darkness with no light in sight. And Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 \"Pathetique\". The performance is emotional, lustrous, and charming. The interpretation emphasizing the hopeless darkness of the last movement is impressive. Included as a bonus is Mozart's Concerto Symphony.Members of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra appeared as soloists. Each member is spirited and breathes perfectly in this splendid performance.
