But it goes without saying that Childs is an extraordinary talent as a player, and his first album for Mack Avenue, "Rebirth," focused on his jazz pianist side and won a Grammy for "Best Jazz Instrumental Album. It won the Grammy Award for "Best Jazz Instrumental Album". This long-awaited new album is the follow-up to "Rebirth. The core members are the same as on the previous album.The rhythm section features Steve Wilson on saxophone, whom I have respected since we first met in 1995, Hans Grawischnik, an Austrian native who has emerged on the NY scene since the early 2000s, and Eric Harland, a first-call drummer of our time. The album also features three gorgeous singers, including Alicia Olatuja, who also participated in the previous album, Aubrey Johnson, who is Lyle Mays' niece and is rapidly gaining attention, and Sarah Gazarek. Also featured are Rogerio Boccato (also on the previous album) and Munyungo Jackson on percussion. With these members, the basic concept of this album is an extension of the previous album, but it is a great work in which his talents as a composer and arranger and as a pianist are fully demonstrated!
