R+R=NOW is the first live recording by R+R=NOW, a dream band formed by Robert Glasper R+R=NOW was formed by jazz revolutionary Robert Glasper, who approached the band for SXSW in 2017. The band features Terrace Martin, one of the most important producers/saxophone players of our time, who connects jazz and hip-hop with his work on Kendrick Lamar's Grammy-winning "To Pimp A Butterfly" and is also a member of the Robert Glasper Experiment and Blue Note All Stars. Terrace Martin is a saxophone player and producer of one of the most important contemporary music groups, connecting jazz and hip-hop; Derrick Hodge, a member of the Robert Glasper Experiment and Blue Note All-Stars whose 2020 leader album "Color of Noize" was well received; Justin Tyson, a member of Esperanza's band and a Robert Glasper Experiment member; and charismatic trumpeter Christian Scott Attenborough. The group consists of six members: Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah, a charismatic trumpeter; Taylor McFarlin, whose father is Bobby McFarlin of "Don't Worry, Be Happy" fame, and who is a DJ, beat boxer, producer, singer, and many other facets.This album is recorded live at the venerable jazz club Blue Note New York during Glasper's month-long residency in 2018. Five of the seven songs on the album are from the 2018 studio album "Collage Speaking," but the thrilling, realistic, and dynamic performance is completely different from the studio version, allowing the audience to enjoy the "live" feeling that is the essence of a jazz artist. The biggest highlight of the album is the last track, "Wrestling Warrior," which features a heated performance that lasts over 25 minutes. The unique and powerful performance is a promising work that combines the original sound of the effects with the straightforward sound of the artists on stage.
