His blues-rooted guitar playing was well received, and in 1969 he signed a huge contract with CBS. In the following decade, he released a series of blues-based rock albums and became an established guitarist, but his activities declined after the late 1980s due to poor health, and in 2011 he made his long-awaited first tour of Japan. However, in July 2014, he passed away at the age of 70. From this tour, the drummer was Bobby Caldwell, a technical drummer who later joined Captain Beyond - Armageddon.
