There are not many concertos for this unique sounding instrument. This album contains three bassoon concertos: Weber's work written in 1811 for G.F. Brandt, bassoonist of the Munich Court Orchestra, with a beautiful melody in the second movement; Krusel's work written in 1829 for bassoonist F.C. Promaille, with a beautiful melody in the third movement; and a concerto by G.F. Brandt for bassoonist F.C. Promaille, with a beautiful melody in the third movement. The last work by Olav Berg was written for bassoonist F.C. Promailles. The last piece by Olav Berg was written for the album's soloist, Dag Jensen, and the booklet includes a dialogue between the two (in German and English) about the piece. Derg Jensen is a Norwegian player. He has performed with many famous orchestras, especially the Mito Chamber Orchestra and the Saito Kinen Orchestra, and is well known in Japan as a player of the Mito Chamber Orchestra and the Saito Kinen Orchestra.
