The 36th collection includes Nos. 176, 155, and 126. No. 176, \"It is a stubborn thing to flinch,\" is a cantata written for Trinity Day on May 27, 1725. Ziegler's libretto addresses cowardice in the faith in general and exhorts people to have courage. Bach turned the words of the title into a wonderful choral fugue, and the third soprano aria, written in elegant gavotte form, adds a luminous glow to the entire work. Cantata No. 155, \"How Long O my God,\" was premiered on January 19, 1716, the second Sunday after the feast of the apparitions, and was also performed in Leipzig on January 16, 1724. The miracle of Jesus turning water into wine is sung with a small string accompaniment including a solo bassoon. Cantata No. 126, \"Lord, keep thy word unto us,\" was first performed in Leipzig on February 4, 1725, a Sunday in Lent. The scripture is based on Jesus' parable of the sower, in which the seed sown in good soil (the Word of God) will bear fruit a hundredfold. The trumpet part played in a minor key and the tenor aria with oboe accompaniment are impressive in this cantata.
