This album, "O," while still electronic in sound, is a fascinating change of direction for Aus, revolving around the sound world of the koto, one of the most distinctive stringed instruments of Japan. The numerous delicate yet rich koto phrases and tones are performed by the extremely talented performer Okuno Raku (Okuno Eden). In his commentary on the work, Aus praises the importance of Okuno's playing and his art in this project. The music in "O" is designed to balance the subtly shifting attack and shimmering resonance of the koto with the timbre of the other instruments. The koto's subtle decay and rhyming flexibility are enveloped by sustained synthesizer tones and counterpoint-built piano melodies, creating a flowing ambience with a drawn-in undercurrent and languid, fluid texture. Looking at the contemporary history of the koto, lovers of Japanese contemporary music will find "O," "Clouds of Alma" (1979), a composition by Hiroshi Yoshimura realized by Tadao Sawai, and the koto performance group Koto Vortex's album "Works by Hiroshi Yoshimura" (1993), another album of Hiroshi Yoshimura's works by the koto performance group Koto Vortex. Both were pioneering works that attempted to pull the koto out of its tradition and place it in an ambient-techno context, which also influenced "O". Also, Japanese contemporary music of the 1970s, such as Moroi Makoto's "Spatial Music with Japanese Instruments," is a source of influence for "O."

Includes Japanese and English commentary by Aus. Cover design by Mugi Hashimoto and mastering by Makoto Oshiro.

It will be released on CD/LP/cassette/digital, and the CD/digital version and LP version will have different jackets. This is the first collaborative release by the label 《FLAU》and M Records.

+Normal jewel case

+Belt

+8-page booklet / Japanese and English

+Commentary by Aus

Tracklisting:

1.Tsuyu2.Uki3.Variation I4.Orientation5.Variation II6.Tsuzure7.Shite8.Ninawa9.Soko10.Strand
1.Tsuyu
2.Uki
3.Variation I
4.Orientation
5.Variation II
6.Tsuzure
7.Shite
8.Ninawa
9.Soko
10.Strand
