All of the pieces are small, ranging from one to four minutes in length, and are a spectacular mosaic of today's contemporary music. While similar groups such as Ensemble Intercontemporain and Klangforum Wien perform only works written in a particular European avant-garde style, this program includes not only avant-garde works but also works by Miles Davis-influenced Mark Anthony Tanej, rock musician Fred Frith, and the Miles Davis-inspired Mark Anthony Tanisi. The selection of musicians, the sense of music selection, and the originality of the project are unparalleled. All of them are interesting, but Heiner Goebbels' \"Anaconda Song,\" which sounds like a deformed Akiko Yano? Heiner Goebbels' \"Song of Anaconda,\" which sounds like a deformed Akiko Yano, Tanej's \"A Jolly Need,\" which sounds like a combination of Stravinsky and Kurt Weill, and Fred Frith's \"Dancing in Place,\" which blithely combines medieval Renaissance and rock.
