The album will be released on the \"Hyperion\" label. Although separated by a hundred years across the Atlantic, both are significant works. Weir's In the Land of Uz is a new work for chorus, tenor solo voice, and chamber orchestra, with text taken from the Old Testament Book of Job, and was premiered at the 2017 BBC Proms under the direction of David Hill. This is the first commercial recording of the work. Beach's The Canticle of the Sun is a nature-inspired work that the composer himself said he \"wrote down the music like a scribbler\" in just a few days.Now, with its luminous choral harmonies, Beach is recognized as an integral part of 20th century American classical vocal music.\n\n\n\nDavid Hill is known for his outstanding musicianship, and his talents have been recognized with appointments as Music Director of the Bach Choir and Leeds Philharmonic Choir, and Associate Guest Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. In 2018, he was awarded an honorary medal by the Royal Guild of Organists of Great Britain for his work in choral conducting and organ performance. He was awarded the Medal of Honor by the\n\n\n\nThe Yale Schola Cantorum is a chamber choir founded in 2003 by Simon Carrington, with Masaaki Suzuki as principal guest conductor.
