Description:
Janine Jansen, who gave a wonderfully full performance of Tchaikovsky's concerto on her second visit to Japan in June 2004, presents Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" with the smallest chamber ensemble on her long-awaited second disc. In an interview during her visit to Japan, Jansen spoke of the joy and splendor of chamber music with a twinkle in her eye, and she herself presides over a chamber music festival in her hometown of Utrecht. This Vivaldi is filled with the intimate atmosphere of chamber music nurtured through such activities. The ensemble is small, consisting of two violins, a viola, cello, double bass, and chitarrone, and an organist and harpsichordist, with the participation of Julian Rachlin on viola.
