Description:
Duduka da Fonseca, Elio Alves, and Mario Adinée, three Brazilian artists working in the United States, fuse jazz of American origin with the music of their home country, especially samba and bossa nova, and Wynton Marsalis pursues originality, Claudio Roditti also participates as a guest! Duduka da Fonseca, born in Rio, Hélio Alves, born in São Paulo, and Mausia Adinée, born in Rio and singer in Antonio Carlos Jobim's last band "Banda Nove" in the last decade of his life. This is the latest recording by the band, whose core is composed of three musicians born in Brazil who immigrated to the United States to work. Fonseca and Alves, as artists born in Brazil, seek to fuse American jazz with the music of their home country, especially samba and bossa nova, and to explore their originality. Since the beginning of 2007, he has been performing an annual program titled "Samba Jazz & the Music of Jobim" at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center ( JALC) in NYC, featuring Mausha Adinay, and also touring around the world. The three have been performing together for a quarter of a century. This work is the result of those years. In addition to originals that are rooted in the music of their home country and the jazz influences they have been influenced by, they will also perform music by Claudio Roditti, who may be said to have been the catalyst for the meeting between Fonseca and Alves, and Howl the Souza, who was very active in the United States from the mid-1970s onward. The program also features the masterpieces of Antonio Carlos Jobim, the great master of bossa nova music who is said to have composed as many as 400 pieces of music. From the opening of the concert, the trumpet of Wynton Marsalis, the general manager of JALC, along with Roditti, is featured prominently in a lively, passionate, and danceable performance. Each of Jobim's five numbers also features vocals by Adinée, who shows respect for the incomparable and beautiful melodies. The five numbers are all based on Bayon rhythms, and are especially well done in M4, Pato Preto, which combines the fresh piano of Alves, soft vocals, and the unique flute sound of the woodwinds! The album also features the participation of the great Hungarian guitarist, Hans Glawisching, as well as Homero Lubambo, who is active in the U.S. as well as the other members. The album features 12 songs, including "Ilove you Poggy," a classic jazz standard featuring Adinée's vocals. This is a work that shows the richness of the music that originated in Brazil.
