Kaihosru Shapruzi Sorabji is known for his lengthy, complex, and difficult works. He is known as a maverick composer with unusual persistence, forbidding performances of his own works after they were not performed properly. His best-known works are for solo piano, many of which have been released on the BIS label. This album includes solo piano, chamber, vocal, and chamber orchestra works, as well as the world premiere recording of a completed version of a work that had previously only existed in fragments. The performances are by the Wild and Beautiful Orchestra, an American orchestra of virtuoso instrumentalists and singers. The orchestra's founder, Chappelle Kingsland, will be joined by flutist Sharon Bezzerly and other virtuoso musicians to present a program that includes previously unpublished works by this maverick composer.
