Black Jazz Records is proud to present "The Second Coming," the second leader album by Columbus, Ohio-born tenor saxophonist Rudolph Johnson, released in 1973, and is considered to be one of the best albums in the Black Jazz catalog. The album is a perfect blend of the exuberance of the tenor saxophone phrases, which seem to come out of the fountain and stay in your head, and the moody comfort of Kirk Lightsey's piano, a well-known favorite among black jazz fans. The title track "The Second Coming," the last song on the album, is a particularly strong performance, as if Rudolph Johnson's musical life could end here, as he gives it all he's got. It's stunning, it's crazy, and most of all, it's beautiful. And above all, it is beautiful.
