Today, however, he is best known for a series of guitar pieces he composed for Segovia. Tansman and Segovia had a longstanding relationship, dating back to the 1920s, when they first met at a dinner organized as part of the activities of \"La Revue Musicale,\" a magazine for which Henri Prunier was editor-in-chief. At that dinner, Tansman had expected Segovia to play \"flamenco,\" but instead he was treated to a Bach chaconne. Tansman was so overwhelmed by the wonderful performance that he instantly became interested in Segovia and decided to write a guitar piece for him. The first piece he wrote was the dazzling \"Mazurka,\" and many more were created over the next 57 years until Tansman's death. Segovia also loved these pieces with all his heart and made an effort to popularize them by performing them from time to time. This first collection features a variety of suites and dances performed by the young guitarist Vitez. This performance conveys Tansman's love for Segovia.
