He is also known for his brilliant performance as the soloist in composer Samuel Adler’s Viola Concerto—a work commissioned by the orchestra—during the 2000–01 season. In addition to his work with the orchestra, Kelly is highly active as a soloist and chamber musician. Here, he makes full use of his deep, lustrous tone to deliver a commanding and energetic performance of three works ranging from the Classical to the Modern periods. Nováček, who plays the piano part, is a multi-talented pianist who is also active as a composer and arranger.
