Description:

The third installment in the new "HYbr:ID" series explores the diverse compositional techniques of German sound artist Alva Noto, a leading figure in contemporary electronic music. Alva Noto, aka Karsten Nicolai, creates meditative soundscapes with beautifully resonant tones and sculptural textures inspired by the Noh theater. HYbr:ID III includes a contemporary dance piece by choreographer Richard Segal and his dance company Ballet of Difference, inspired by the "collective action" of marching and changing direction that is taught in Japanese school physical education and the military. The piece includes music composed by Alva Noto for the contemporary dance piece "BALLET OF (DIS)OBEDIENCE" by choreographer Richard Segal and his dance company "Ballet of Difference". Inspired by the traditional Japanese Noh theater, this piece deals with the rejection of musical rules.Continuing on the trajectory established by the previous two albums, the album weaves together both rhythms and non-beats to create a soundscape of contemplative and beautifully resonant tones. The albums in the HYbr:ID series are to be perceived not only as individual compositions, but also as a body of work, and we place particular importance on the possibility of listening to these albums in the correct song order and experiencing them as a whole. Also, these albums were not only composed for a ballet piece, but each album functions as a pure work of music, and they demonstrate a new idiosyncrasy for me, a strong focus on creating electronic sounds and structures in a way that creates a sculptural texture."
