Pat Smythe Quartet
Description:
Two recordings (both first appearances!) of Alan Holdsworth performing with the Pat Smythe Quartet in 1973 while he was working in Tempest. The album is a compilation of two recordings (both first time recordings!) that Alan Holdsworth performed with the Pat Smythe Quartet while in Tempest. The album already features the classic "Golden Lakes," originally by Iginbottom and later featured on a series of albums with Gordon Beck, and with John Marshall on drums, the sound is a mixture of British neatness and passion that is reminiscent of the Nuclearius school, This is an important work that features a spectacular performance by Holdsworth, a precursor to the fluid playing on Soft Machine's "Convergence"!
