In all modern revivals and reenactments over the past 50 years, parts of the opera have been deleted or ignored in favor of Rossini's original performance techniques, and the opera is now being presented on the Opera Lara label, a new, more intimate version of the opera. This recording by the Opera Lara label is the first complete recording of the complete work, with period instruments and a dramatic performance that is at the same time historically accurate.
