After the Russian Revolution, many piano trios were composed, including works by Roslavets. However, most were rejected by the authorities due to their radical nature and remained suppressed for a long time. This \"Piano Trio No. 4,\" written under persecution, represents the pinnacle of his mature period and is a work featuring intricate polyphony. Dmitri Shostakovich survived this era of oppression and carried forward the achievements of the avant-garde in a different form. His Piano Trio No. 1, composed at age 16, was born from personal romantic feelings.
