When the play was to be staged in Vienna in 1809, Josef Hartl, the director of the Vienna Court Theater, commissioned Beethoven to compose the incidental music, Beethoven, who had long held a keen interest in this field, gladly accepted the commission, spent nearly half a year composing the music, and conducted the premiere himself.\nThe story is based on the heroic exploits of Egmont (Efmont), a soldier from Flanders, and Beethoven composed powerful, solemn music that reflected his own political interests. This dramatic work, reflecting Beethoven’s own sentiments, was a masterpiece that far surpassed the standard of incidental music of the time; in particular, the final “Symphony of Victory” clearly expresses the conclusion and dramatic plot that Goethe had envisioned.\nThis two-disc set includes a German-language reading that closely follows the original play (CD 1) and a version (CD 2) where you can enjoy the music alone without narration.\nThe narrator, August Zilmer, is a renowned actor whose parents emigrated from Austria to the United States. His emotionally charged and compelling narration is a highlight of this recording.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"BR Klassik","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595610448161,"sku":"4589538784003","price":100000.0,"currency_code":"COP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538784003.jpg?v=1790481913","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-co\/products\/4589538784003","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
