Barba Yaga is a jazz\/funk group consisting of 10 women based in Portland, Northwest Oregon. This is their only album released in 1978 on Bloodleaf, an Olivia Records subsidiary (distribution) founded in 1973 by the feminist group. Olivia's policy was to bridge the gap between talented women and the recording industry, and to have \"women\" take charge of all operations, not to mention musicians and staff. Baba Yaga's music is \"jazz\" in a nutshell, but with a pop flexibility that appeals to more than just the average jazz fan.
