A truly spectacular album!

Born in 1973 in Corsicana, Texas, Sparks grew up in a musical family—his father was a jazz musician and his mother a church organist—and began playing the organ at a Baptist church at the age of six. While studying music at Eastfield College, he encountered Kirk Franklin’s gospel group and served as its musical director from 1992 to 2005, contributing to albums such as 1993’s *Kirk Franklin & the Holy Family*, *Nu Nation Project* (1998), and the 2002 masterpiece *The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin*. He collaborated with gospel luminaries such as Fred Hammond, CC Winans, and Donny McClurkin, as well as with a stellar lineup of jazz and R&B artists including Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Lalah Hathaway, Kirk Whalum, Natalie Cole, and Nancy Wilson.
He prefers to use vintage equipment that reached its peak in the 1970s, including the Hammond B-3 organ—which his parents gave him on his 16th birthday and which he still plays today—as well as the Mellotron 4000, Hohner D-6 Clavinet, Fender Rhodes, Mini-Moog, Oberheim OBXA, ARP Odyssey, and Prophet-5—all vintage instruments that reached their peak in the 1970s.
As a core member of Roy Hargrove’s “RHFactor,” he contributed to the 2003 album *Hard Groove*, the 2004 album *Strength*, and the 2006 album *Distractions*. Since 2016, he has been a regular member of Snarky Puppy, appearing on the 2016 Grammy-winning album *CulchaVulcha* and the 2019 album *Immigrance*. His debut album as a leader, 2019’s *Schizophrenia—The Yang Project*, featured Roy Hargrove, Marcus Miller, and Snarky Puppy’s Michael League, generating significant buzz.
The guest lineup is truly all-star, featuring Mike Stern, John Scofield, Eric Gales, Chris Potter, Keith Anderson, Pino Palladino, Hadrian Fero, Chuck Smith, and Liz Wright. Furthermore, the album features three members of Snarky Puppy—Michael League, Mark Letieri, and Jason Thomas—adding to the festive, lavish atmosphere.
This album is dedicated to the artist’s father, the late Bobby Sparks Sr., a keyboardist who loved bebop and the blues his entire life. Heavily influenced by George Duke, Stevie Wonder, P-Funk legend George Clinton, and his own gospel background, this second album is a funky, groovy work elevated by a hip-hop sensibility.

Tracklisting:

1.Prelude
2.Musical Diarrhea
3.Good Morning America
4.Horny Dreams
1.Dmsr
2.Forever Mine
3.Wutang
4.Sometimes It Snows In April
1.Letter To Mumbai
2.Yo Yo
3.Here's One
4.Afro Nigerian Girl
1.Bobby Sparks Senio Talks About The Big Band Era
2.Eventual
3.Dr Rock Kicking' It At The Rmr
4.Love Dance
5.Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
6.Mayday
1.Somebody Already Broke My Heart
2.Jaime Starr
3.Love
4.Sodom And Gomorrah
5.South Dallas
