The album features works by two German composers: Hasse, who studied with Porpora and A. Scarlatti in Naples and went on to achieve success in Italy, and J.S. Bach, who sublimated influences from Italian music into German-style music. (1), which seems to be Hasse's only recorder work, is titled \"Cantata\" when it could have been a \"Sonata,\" and is a dazzling work of superb technique that could be a concerto or an opera aria. This piece is accompanied by a lute harpsichord (lautenwerk. J.S. Bach also used this instrument, and it is a perfect match.Bach's cantatas have a rustic sound, with the recorder taking the obbligato and a small organ, evoking the image of a private setting. A recorder version of the unaccompanied violin and a viola da gamba version of the unaccompanied cello suite are interspersed to add flavor.
