The jury for the 2027 competition was led by American contemporary composer Sean Shepard (b.1979). With an orthodox style that is heir to the genealogy of American contemporary music, his orchestral works have been actively introduced in the United States and Europe in recent years.\n\n\n\nOn a Clear Day is a magnificent oratorio for solo cello, chorus, and orchestra composed by Shepherd in 2022-2023 using text from a series of poems by the renowned German poet Ulla Hahn. The world premiere took place in April 2023 at Carnegie Hall in the United States, conducted by Kent Nagano and performed by the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
