The great Wagnerian tenor Simon O'Neill is flawless, especially in his God-inspired singing after the Good Friday music in the third act.Finley's compelling Amfortas, René Parpe's cool-headed Grunemannz, the rather cool Wight's Klingzor, and Denoke singing Kundry, the key to the story. The music of the orchestra, conducted by Pappano, warmly illuminates this tale of suffering and purification.
