Fabrice Boron is an internationally acclaimed conductor. In addition to numerous concerts, he has recorded a wide variety of works for NAXOS, the cpo and Capriccio labels, and others. As a composer, he has garnered attention for his works that use unique sounds, as \"a composer with a keen ear for unusual timbres. This album contains three works that are well represented by his personality. Your Voice Out of the Lamb\" was composed at the request of renowned recorder player Mikala Petri, and the title is a pun on Genesis' \"The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. It is a genre-less work that treats the recorder as an instrument that emits an \"insane voice\" while also evoking elements of pop music, while quoting bits and pieces of music by Bach, Mendelssohn, and others. The \"Four Lessons of Darkness,\" which uses an electric cello, and \"Dogmatic Pleasures,\" with its unique title of a series of contradictory words, are all enjoyable pieces that employ contemporary musical language, including pop and jazz. Boron himself, however, says that his own work should not be considered a \"crossover. What it is best called will be left to the listener's judgment.
