With their fifth release, *Loss*—their debut album on Century Media Records—they are launching a full-scale global campaign. The five members, who maintain anonymity by dressing entirely in black, wearing arm paint, and bearing a unique emblem where their faces should be, have earned acclaim for their sound rooted in black metal.

“I think the new album contains elements that both old and new fans will enjoy. However, their expectations may not align with the direction of the album,” says the anonymous vocalist. He also reflects on their first album, *Unsettling Whispers* (2018), and their second album, *Limbo* (2020). “It’s true that up until *Mirage* (2022), our style was ultra-aggressive black metal, similar to Watain, and I even thought there might come a day when we could perform alongside Behemoth. Of course, I have great respect for both bands, but we never intended to be the ‘next Behemoth’—we wanted to be the ‘next Gaerea.’”
By wearing masks, Gaerea has revealed their inner selves, laid bare their souls, and gained the freedom to express what they want. Their latest release, *Loss*, is an ambitious work that, while unexpected for fans, exudes an overwhelming sense of liberation and charm.

From the grand opening track (1) “Luminary,” you can clearly hear the band’s determination to push the boundaries of their creativity. The album features a lineup of songs with catchy, passionate choruses, demonstrating that they have further expanded their musical range. (3) “Hellbound” delves deeply into themes of guilt, heartbreak, and self-destruction, serving as a song about overcoming all pain and confusion. The passionate riffs—like scorching flames appearing as symbolic figures in the music video—and the vocals that violently shake the listener’s heart vividly etch the tension straddling vulnerability and aggression, love and betrayal. From the dynamic (6) “Cyclone,” which anchors the album’s mid-section, through the interlude-like (7) “LBRNTH” that draws the listener into its depths. The flow continues to the breathtaking (8) “Nomad,” which cuts through the lingering resonance to depict a wandering heart in an anthemic manner. And finally, the dramatic elegy (9) “Stardust” brings the album to a close. Written based on the vocalist’s experience of losing a close friend during his teenage years, this song connects with the album’s title, “Loss.” This song, which helped the vocalist confront emotions long buried deep within, concludes the album as those feelings are released, spreading quiet ripples. This release possesses an innovativeness that surpasses their previous work, *Coma* (2024), which demonstrated their musical evolution. And yet, it remains unmistakably the sound of Gaerea.

From October to November 2025, the band joined Atlas as the main support act on the European tour of their Swedish labelmates, OrbitCulture, delivering energetic and expressive performances.
The enigmatic Portuguese band Gaerea proves their uniqueness with the beautiful yet resilient album *Loss*.

■Includes a 16-page booklet
■Digipak format with O-card

Tracklisting:

1.Luminary
2.Submerged
3.Hellbound
4.Uncontrolled
5.Phoenix
6.Cyclone
7.LBRNTH
8.Nomad
9.Stardust
