Seiji Ozawa was the Music Director of the Ravinia Festival, the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, from 1964 to 1969 (between the ages of 29 and 34). During that period, he recorded 15 LPs for RCA Red Seal. This box contains the original coupling of his recordings with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. This is the fourth Chicago Symphony Orchestra box by Sony Classical, which has previously released a box containing all the recordings by Fritz Reiner, Jean Martinon, and other music directors of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, as well as a box with Morton Gould, who had a close relationship with the Symphony Orchestra. This is the fourth box set of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and is a valuable record in that sense, as there has been no other recording of the combination of Ozawa and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, a conductor of the highest caliber in the world and the world's greatest virtuoso orchestra. The high quality of the performances and recordings is also notable, and this is the first time that these recordings, which are outstanding among the many in Seiji Ozawa's discography, have been combined into one.The three songs with Peter Zelkin, \"Pictures at an Exhibition\" and \"One Night on Bald Mountain,\" are Ozawa's only recordings to date. The remastered recordings are basically the latest digital masters to date, but Discs 1, 4, 5, and 6 were remixed and remastered at 24 bit \/ 192 kHz from the original analog master tapes. Each disc features the original coupling from the first US LP release, and is packaged in a clamshell box in the original paper jacket design. The disc also includes some performances not by Ozawa and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The Schoenberg Piano Concerto coupled with Peter Zelkin and Arnold Steinhardt's \"Five Pieces for Piano\" and \"Fantasy\" will be released on CD for the first time in the world.
