From Barber's Adagio to Bohemian Rhapsody, four double bass players perform with passion! Dominique Wagner and his three friends perform in a breathtaking ensemble on this double bass-only album. Christoph Wimmer and Herbert Mayer are the principal double basses of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and José Trigo is the principal double bass of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. The four contrabass virtuosos together can arrange choral and orchestral pieces, thanks in part to the wide range of the instrument's sound. The album opens with choral works by Rheinberger and Bruckner, two of Dominik Wagner's favorite works from his days in the Vienna Boys Choir, followed by Dominik Wagner's performance of Bach's Chaconne. The quartet then performs Largo from the New World Symphony and Barber's Adagio, followed again by Dominique Wagner's performance of Bach's Suite No. 1 for Solo Cello, and the last two pieces are bold arrangements of classic rock pieces from the 1970s and 1980s, performed by the quartet.
