Hertenstein studied viola under Nobuko Imai at the Geneva Conservatory, and won the 3rd prize and the Audience Prize at the 1st Tokyo International Viola Competition in 2009. She has participated in the Verbier Festival, La Folle Journée Festival, and Viola Space. She was Principal Viola of the Basel Symphony Orchestra from 2011 to 2017, and since October 2015 she has been a professor at the Detmold University of Music and Performing Arts in Detmold, Germany, where she is dedicated to the training of future generations. He has also been a professor at the Detmold University of Music in Germany since October 2015. Shostakovich's cello sonata was composed in 1934 at the suggestion of Viktor Lubovich Kubatsky and premiered by Kubatsky and Shostakovich in the same year.Shostakovich's last work, the Viola Sonata, on the other hand, was dedicated to the Beethoven Quartet's Fyodor Druzhinin. The work is fascinating for its enigmatic world, with Shostakovich's gloomy possession just before his death, but also for its quotations of sound forms from other pieces, which is typical of Shostakovich.
