Originally interested in the fusion of rock and classical music, this piece is also a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, whom he idolized as a student. In spite of the fact that it was forbidden to listen to Jimi Hendrix's albums in Russia at that time, Nikolaev secretly listened to the recordings and learned how to play the guitar, and his admiration for rock is evident throughout the piece.
