The world premiere recording was made by Sebastian Bohlen! Vasks, who was born in Latvia and whose lyrical and lucid style incorporates elements of his native music, completed his Violin Concerto No. 2 \"In the Dusk Light\" in 2020, a 38-minute work in three movements. The music, which flows slowly throughout, is meditative and moving, evoking a beautiful world of dusk with its deep shadows and dramatic contrasts. The final piece, \"Lonely Angel,\" which is interspersed with Schubert's \"Brilliant Rondo,\" arranged for violin and strings, is Vasks' tribute to his late mother, who survived most of the 20th century. This is another aesthetic work that will move the listener's heart.
