The piece is a concerto in four movements: Prelude, Capriccio, Improvisation, and Rhapsody, each inspired by a traditional Chinese opera from Sichuan, Kun, Peking, or Qin, and each movement features traditional Chinese percussion instruments such as the flute (bamboo flute), erhu, and suona (chamela), whose unique sounds blend perfectly with the sound of the orchestra. The unique sounds of these instruments are exquisitely blended with the sounds of the orchestra.
